RECRUITING NOW !
Junior and Training Band at 2016 170th Anniversary Concert
If you or your child already play a brass instrument and are looking to join a band for a better understanding of timings, parts or help achieve marks in music grades please come along and meet us.
If you or your child are new to reading and playing brass music, please come along to one of our rehearsals and we can discuss how to get you or your child started.
Sessions, including music lessons are free of charge and a brass instrument will also be supplied on loan free of charge. The only thing we ask is you regularly attend lessons and rehearsals.
The band meets every Tuesday during term time from 6 to 7pm at the band room (see address at bottom of the site and on the Find Us page) to rehearse with their conductor John Turner. John is also a member of the senior band and has 59 years of experience.
Meltham and Meltham Mills Band was formed in 1846. Over the years the band has seen many players start in the Junior and Training sections working their way up and going onto many successes within the Senior Band and elsewhere including the The Kings Guards, travelling processions bands and cruise ships to name a few.
The Junior Band is a registered charity and relies on donations and volunteers in order to operate and enable budding musicians, young and old to have access to free lessons, groups and instruments (on loan).
Joining a band has proved to help with educational, social and mental wellbeing for people of all ages, from all backgrounds. Forming part of a band/group is highly beneficial for those who wish to take their music grades, as it can help achieve higher marks due to better understanding of timings and various parts.
Junior band at Meltham Memories 1940's weekend in Meltham. Missing quite a few players with holidays etc, but some great help from a couple of senior players.
New players, and parents, are always most welcome, so please do speak with our Band Manager Alice Gahan on 07712 696 969 for any further advice or information. Alternatively you can email us by clicking Contact Us.
