Last Friday, 16th December in Meltham Parish Church, Meltham and Meltham Mills Band presented what in my opinion was their finest Concert in many years as they celebrated their Annual Christmas Concert with a huge audience, who were treated to a most enjoyable and well chosen programme presented by the ever affable MD Tim Sidwell.

Traditional Christmas items were interspersed by two of the band’s soloists with 14yr old Max Lawrence in most secure performance on trombone of ‘Where E’er You Walk’ and Solo Euphonium Chris Farrington with a truly moving rendition of ‘O Holy Night’.

The combined Training and Junior Bands presented their most polished and confident performance to date, which was most enthusiastically and well deserved applauded.

Presentations of Senior band awards went to Mark Wears { Players Player of Year } and Amanda Rank { Bandsperson of Year } while the Juniors Award went to the Black Family, Mark and his sons Owen and Theo for their commitment and dedication in travelling every Tuesday from across the motorway.

The Junior/Training band’s parents provided interval refreshments of Sherry, Mulled Wine and Mince pies and cake to further enhance a really happy and relaxed ‘aura’ to an outstanding evening.

Thanks to all, and Bravo Tim!
