A large and enthusiastic audience enjoyed an excellent concert in the Parish Church as both Senior and Junior Bands presented a well balanced mix of festive items, carols and traditional band pieces.

Amongst the festive items we enjoyed some lovely Flugelplaying by Gene Kinder in Peter Graham’s arrangement of ‘Away in a Manger’ which was soon followed by Euphonium soloist Chris Farrington in a glorious rendition of ‘O Holy Night’

Other highlights were Philip Harper’s quite stunning ‘Yule Dance’ and Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s ‘Carol of the Bells’

The Junior Band really excelled themselves at this concert in presenting a confident and most musical performance, particularly in Alan Fernie’s arrangements of ‘Hey Jude’ and ‘The Essential Glenn Miller’, and it was really nice to see them combine with the Senior band in ‘Jingle Bells’ to close the first half during which Sherry, Mulled Wine and Mince Pies were served by the Junior’s parents; this really was a most entertaining and happy evening.

CD's can be purchased direct from band members, Lodges Butchers, Crossroads and other shops within Meltham village as well as the online shop on the website. History of Meltham and Meltham Mills Brass Band
