Last Saturday saw the Band promote their 14th annual LNOP concerts in the Parish Church,

The band opened with ‘Cortege’ { Rimsky Korsikov} and their first half programme included ‘Eleanor Rigby’, a superb arrangement by Philip Sparke of ‘Skyfall, closing with the very popular ‘ABBA Goes Brass’

Interspersed we were treated to some really beautiful singing by Guest soloist ‘Charlotte Potter’ a student at the renounced Chethams and for a student delivered a most mature performance in songs by Mozart and Parry followed by a stunning ‘O My Beloved Father { Puccini}

The second half opened with a rousing band presentation of the S.A March ‘Celebration’ by Leslie Condon followed by a beautiful Philip Wilby arrangement of ‘ The Day Thou Gavest’ The band then gave an extra item with their most beautiful and balanced playing in a Moari love song ‘Hine e Hine’

Charlotte delighted with Adele’s Laughing Song’ [Strauss} before joining with the band in the usual rousing finale of British Sea Songs, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem with the very patriotic audience singing heartily and waving flags.

After a most enjoyable evening, the high spirits were rather dampened by the announcement that Tim was having to retire from his role as Musical Director due to work and family commitments. He really was beginning to turn the band around with his hard work infectious humour and personality, therefore we all wish Tim and his family all the very best in their future plans.
