MELTHAM and MELTHAM MILLS BAND have made quiet, but consistant steady
progress over the past few years, moving through the Second Section to First Section in 2008
and now finding themselves facing a most historic 2012 when they make their debut in the
Championship Section at Bradford in March.
As with all bands, work commitments and study courses have resulted in a relatively modest
turn-over of players; but the band are extremely fortunate and grateful, that the main core of
principal players and most other key players have remained loyal and constant throughout the
band’s promotions, and as such, fully deserve the honour of leading the band into the
‘premier league’.
This new challenge has inspired the band to appoint Norman Law to prepare and direct the
band through this new phase of their illustrious history, being one of the oldest bands in the
country after being formed in 1846.
Norman’s first official engagement with the band is presenting their annual Christmas
Concert in Meltham Parish Church on Wed, 14th Dec. at 7.30pm.

All connected with the band feel most assured that Norman’s outstanding achievements
whilst working in the top section will significantly help raise the band to yet a higher level in
the hope of establishing themselves there for the foreseeable future.
