About Us
Welcome to Meltham & Meltham Mills Band, one of the country’s oldest and most respected brass band organisations. With a proud history dating back to 1846, we’ve been at the heart of village life for generations, supported by and deeply connected to our local community.
Today, we’re a thriving organisation with over 80 musicians across four ensembles, ranging from complete beginners to experienced players. Our main contesting band currently competes in the Second Section, performing at Regional and National competitions, as well as delivering concerts locally and across the region.
Booking the Band
We cater for all occasions from large concerts to smaller events. We can also provide smaller ensembles for weddings, corporate functions, Bavarian, Oktoberfest and background music.

We’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of brass players. Our Beginners Band offers instruments and tuition to children from the age of seven, while our Community Band, launched in 2023, provides a welcoming space for learners and adults who want to play for enjoyment. Through our Brass Roots Project, we work closely with local schools to inspire young musicians and keep brass music alive for future generations.
Our bandroom in the centre of Meltham has been our home since 1958. More than just a rehearsal space, it’s a hub for creativity, friendship, and community spirit. Whether performing at contests, village celebrations, or special events, we continue to uphold our proud heritage while embracing the future.
