170th Anniversary Concert - Saturday 11th June

Last Saturday, 11th, was a significant landmark as Meltham and Meltham Mills Band presented a special concert to mark their 170th Anniversary, and what a fantastic evening it turned out to be.

The Band were in superb form under Conductor Jonathan Beatty and had chosen and prepared a most appropriate and entertaining programme for this special occasion.

The Guest Soloist was the world renowned Cornettist Phillip McCann who presented a Masterclass in the art of cornet playing, with really wonderful Solo playing including his encore item with a stunning rendition of Post Horn Gallop.

The Junior and Training combined Bands, resplendent in their new uniforms were also in fine form as some 23 young players delivered a most confident presentation.

There really was a rare ‘buzz’ throughout the evening which was most humourously compered by David Hoyle of BBC Radio Leeds, and a very very large audience enjoyed a superb Celebration Concert.
