Last weeks’ annual Christmas Concert in Meltham Parish Church marked the debut of newly appointed Musical Director Norman Law ----and what a debut!
An excellent choice of programme was delivered in some style; a well measured mixture of traditional Christmas pieces, carols, and two fine soloists in Adele and James Fawcett, Adele featuring on Flugel in ‘A Winter’s Tale’, and James performing an E Flat Bass solo in ‘Frosty the Snowman’.
From the opening bars of the ‘Floretiner March’ the playing was of the highest quality , and Norman seemed very much at ease with his new band and a most appreciative large audience.
I have to say, in conclusion, that some of the playing last Wednesday was the finest I have ‘ever’ heard from this band, quite outstanding!, and a very welcome and positive ‘fillip’ ahead of the challenges of the Championship Section in the New Year.
A superb evening!
