Spring Concert 2015 - Meltham PDF Print E-mail

Last Saturday, 28th the Meltham and Meltham Mills Band presented their Annual Spring Concert to a packed Methodist Church.

The band opened in fine style with Rimmer’s “Viva Birkinshaw” followed by the lovely but less performed overture “Die Felsenmuhle” by Reissiger.

Two of the band’s soloists were in outstanding form as Peter Woodrow on Flugel played the beautiful “Mull of the Bens” by Adrian Drover, while Chris Farrington, Euphonium, presented a most exciting rendition of the famous “Largo al Factotum”.

A wonderful work from the pen of Goff Richards, “Hymn of Praise” concluded the first half after which the ‘Junior Band’ gave a most confident and convincing performance in Grandfather’s Clock, Land of My Fathers and Beatles For Young People’

Following further items in a nicely chosen programme which included “Vitae Lux” and a” Carmen Selection” the Band concluded a fine evening of music-making with a powerful performance of Sparke’s “Dundonnel” from Hymn of the Highlands.
