Musical Director - Tom Haslam

Tom Haslam has been with the band from December 2018.  

Tom started his banding career in 1988 playing Tenor Horn with the Greenfield Training Band. He went on to play with various  Saddleworth bands before becoming the Principal Cornet of the Hepworth Band at the age of 16.   He was also a solo cornet player with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain for five courses.                                               

He studied Trumpet at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and the Royal Academy of Music in London. During his time in London he undertook numerous professional engagements including work with the City of London Sinfonietta and recording for the children's TV show The Tweenies!

He moved back 'up north' in 2002 and became the principal cornet of the Ashton Under Lyne Band before moving to the Leyland Band on Repiano Cornet in 2003. During his stint at Leyland the band were crowned national champions in 2005.

In 2011 he became the Musical Director of the Greenfield Band. He guided the band from the fourth to the second section, winning numerous awards along the way. He works as a brass teacher for both Stockport and Oldham music services.
